The Electron E1 enables edgeAI to significantly reduce energy consumption and BOM costs, while running complex AI models on-device
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 3, 2026 — Efficient Computer, the company building the world's most energy-efficient processors, today announced that edgeAI has selected the Electron E1 to develop high-performance, energy-efficient solutions for physical AI and critical infrastructure applications.
Electron E1 delivers higher performance and greater energy efficiency than many AI accelerators, with far greater programming flexibility. Electron E1 is also much more efficient than low-power CPUs, offering up to a 100X improvement in energy efficiency. This efficiency has enabled edgeAI to develop powerful solutions that run large AI models on-device while easing power, cost, and form-factor constraints. By removing energy consumption as a limiting factor, Electron E1 opens the door for edgeAI to deliver new AI capabilities and scale its solutions across a wide variety of markets.
"With our new funding and strong demand from a growing number of customers, including edgeAI, we're continuing to scale production of Electron E1," said Brandon Lucia, CEO and co-founder of Efficient Computer. "Electron E1 delivers better performance than an accelerator, with orders of magnitude greater energy efficiency, unlocking on-device capabilities that were previously out of reach for edgeAI."
edgeAI's transition to Electron E1 was seamless. Efficient's effcc Compiler maps customers' existing code to its dataflow architecture, allowing them to realize significant efficiency gains without rewriting code. Electron E1's programmable architecture also lets customers update applications in software, including through over-the-air updates so they can make changes as AI models and applications evolve. Its support for a range of popular programming languages and software frameworks gives customers flexibility in how they develop and deploy applications, unlike accelerators that can lock them into a single software stack.
"We evaluated a wide range of processors for our physical AI products, and none matched the Electron E1's combination of performance and efficiency. It runs our models in real time using a fraction of the power, while providing the same programming flexibility as any other processor," said Yang Jung Woong, CEO at edgeAI. "That gives our products the headroom to run the latest vision and compute stacks for years, something we couldn't support before. With Electron E1 now in volume production, the decision was clear: we committed to Electron E1 for our products and chose Efficient as our partner as we scale."
Electron E1 is ideal for a wide variety of applications that demand low power, high-efficiency, and powerful edge AI processing, including robotics and drones, critical infrastructure observability applications, and industrial wearables. With the company's recent $97 million Series B funding, Efficient is focused on bringing its groundbreaking energy efficiency up the compute stack.
